The Institute for Public Policy Education approached HCI to redesign their site. The goal was to have a site that was clean and official looking, but at the same time not too stuffy.
In case you're curious, this is what the old site looked like.

This band's site puts all the media right up front. It's designed to look great with a small amount of content and to easily scale as more promotional materials get added.

Special Execution, a consulting group operating out of Century City needed an easy to update website (i.e. a content management system) that could work as a brochure for attracting potential clients, a tool for recruiting potential employees and as a blog to keep everyone in the loop on the latest and greatest. Their direction was "keep it simple...really, we have a tight budget." We went a little overboard on the functionality but still managed to come in under budget and in the end everyone at Special Execution was very happy.
I tried but couldn't talk them out of that flash intro though.
